Execution¶
Execution is where shop-floor work actually gets recorded. Planning decides what needs making and when; Execution is where the people doing it record what they did, shift by shift, and sign it off.
It is a separate section from Planning on purpose. Access is granted per application, so an operator or shift supervisor can be given Execution without being given Planning — they see the work that is theirs, and not the Bills of Materials, templates and schedules that aren't.
How it works¶
- A Work Order's routing generates a Job Card for each step that needs shop-floor work. Cards can also be added by hand from a Work Order.
- The people doing the work record it on the card shift by shift — quantity produced, rejects, downtime, who performed it.
- Where per-shift sign-off is switched on, each shift's supervisor attests their own shift's numbers.
- When the work is finished, the card goes through check and approve, or is rejected and sent back.
The plant, and your part in it¶
The section answers two different questions, and it's worth knowing which page answers which.
Ongoing shows the whole plant. It lists every Work Order in flight across the organisation, whoever it belongs to, so a supervisor gets a complete picture rather than a partial one. It only ever shows Work Order totals — never an individual person's entries.
Job Cards and Shift Sign-offs show your work. The Job Cards list shows the cards you're involved in — as maker, checker, approver, shift supervisor, or as someone rostered onto one of its shifts. Shift Sign-offs shows only entries waiting on your attestation.
If one of those two lists looks emptier than you expect, that usually means the remaining work belongs to other teams, not that it doesn't exist. Engineers see everything in the organisation.
