EtherNet/IP in Enture¶
EtherNet/IP is the standard protocol for Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation systems (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, and others). The Enture EtherNet/IP connector uses the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) over standard Ethernet to read tags directly by name from Logix-based controllers.
How Enture uses EtherNet/IP¶
- An EtherNet/IP Device represents a single controller, identified by its IP address and port.
- EtherNet/IP Parameters map individual controller tags (by tag path) to trackable data points in Enture.
Once configured, the Enture edge device connected to your facility reads the mapped tags continuously and streams the values to the platform.
Typical setup workflow¶
- Add an EtherNet/IP Device — assign it to a workspace and set its IP address and port — see Adding an EtherNet/IP Device.
- Add EtherNet/IP Parameters — for each tag you want to monitor, add a parameter with its tag path and value type — see Adding EtherNet/IP Parameters.
Data flows automatically once the edge device picks up the configuration (within approximately 30 seconds).
