Enture Lines¶
A Line represents a production line within a Process — the level that sits between a Process and its Machines in the platform hierarchy:
Organization > Processes > Lines > Machines > Parameters
Enture automatically tracks when a line is Loading and when it is Running, and lets you attach Input Parameters and Output Parameters to each line to capture the values that matter for every run.
Loading vs. Running¶
- Loading — the line is being set up or filled before production actually starts (for lines where this phase applies).
- Running — the line is actively producing.
Whether a line has both phases or just one depends on how it's configured for your site. This status is what drives when Input and Output Parameter values get captured.
Input Parameters vs. Output Parameters¶
- Input Parameters — values that go into a run, such as a raw material quantity or a recipe setting. These are captured at the start of a run (or load).
- Output Parameters — values that come out of a run, such as the quantity produced or a quality reading. These are captured at the end of a run (or load).
Parameter types¶
When adding an Input or Output Parameter, you choose how its value is captured:
| Type | How the value is captured |
|---|---|
| Manual | An operator types the value in by hand. Can optionally be restricted to a specific user group, and can be reordered via drag-and-drop. |
| Continuous | Automatically calculated from a linked machine/device reading over the course of the run. |
| Discrete | Automatically read once from a linked machine/device reading. |
| Time Elapsed Since Last Run | Automatically calculated as the time between the current run and the previous run of this line — no linked reading needed. |
| Time Elapsed Since Last Load | Automatically calculated as the time between the current load and the previous load of this line — no linked reading needed. |
Manual parameters are the only ones you write into by hand — every other type is captured automatically and shown read-only.
When to use the Time Elapsed types
These are useful for tracking gaps between production cycles without needing a separate sensor or reading — for example, flagging how long a line sat idle since it last ran, or how long since the last time it was loaded.
Adding an Input or Output Parameter¶
- Open the line's details page and turn on settings mode (top right corner).
- Go to the Input Parameters or Output Parameters section.
- Click Add.
- Enter a name for the parameter.
- Choose a Type:
- For Manual, optionally restrict who can write values by choosing a User Group.
- For Continuous or Discrete, select the machine or device parameter to link it to.
- For Time Elapsed Since Last Run or Time Elapsed Since Last Load, no further setup is needed — the value is calculated automatically.
- Click Add to save.
The new parameter appears in the list — Manual parameters can be reordered by dragging them, while automatically-captured parameters (Continuous, Discrete, and the Time Elapsed types) always appear read-only.
Viewing and entering values for a run¶
Open any specific run of a line to see its parameter values, split into two groups:
- Manual Parameters — enter or edit values here if you have the required access.
- Auto Parameters — read-only values captured automatically, including Continuous, Discrete, and Time Elapsed values.
Editing and removing parameters¶
- Manual parameters can have their User Group restriction changed at any time.
- Any parameter can be removed using the delete (bin) icon — this only removes the parameter definition going forward and does not delete previously recorded values.
Renaming isn't supported yet
A parameter's name is set when it's created and can't currently be edited — remove it and add a new one with the desired name instead.
